Spring Has Sprung

It’s official spring is here! In Louisville that means three things 1) Derby is near 2) Plants are blooming 3) Allergy season . So after you purchase a fresh bottle of Claritin, how should you ring in the season?

Hike and bike, what’s not to like:

While the sun is shining (but before the heat and humidity drive you indoors) grab your friend, dog, or book and go chill with Mother Nature. Louisville is full of outdoor public areas including a number of dog friendly options. Find a park and get your daily exercise in while enjoying Kentucky’s flora blooming back to life. Looking for something more adventurous? Take a day trip to Red River Gorge and go rock climbing.

Out with the old, in with the new:

I have a hard time enjoying cleaning, but refreshing your space for the new season can be reinvigorating. Go through your belongings as you begin packing up your winter wear and switching it for your summer favorites. Anything you haven’t worn in a year or you hate wearing should be tossed! Strapped on closet space or cash?  Donate your old things or consign them at a local shop or online.

Ladies who lunch Sip on Patios in the Spring:

Grabbing brunch or evening drinks with the girls?  Before the bugs of summer infiltrate the city head to the outdoor seating areas. Garage Bar on Market Street is a great place to do both! Louisville’s food scene is thriving and many tasty restaurants and bars provide ample outdoor space for their customers.

Dress Your Best:

140th Kentucky Derby

All Louisvillians know that Derby means one thing: parties. Whether you’re headed to the Brownstable Brown Party or a backyard barbecue you want to look your best! Why spend the day inside the mall when you could take your shopping outdoors. If you want to shop till you drop and not feel guilty for hiding from the sun then head to the Summit, Westport Village, or the Outlet Shops of the Bluegrass.
